About

Whidbey Ferry.jpg

I'm a graduate of Seattle University School of Law with a diverse experiential background.

Prior to law school, I served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain.  During my time in the Marine Corps, I was stationed in Quantico, Virginia, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Oceanside, California, and Okinawa, Japan.  I also deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the Philippines, and participated in exercises in the Republic of Korea.  Before leaving active duty, I also had the opportunity of playing on the All-Marine Corps soccer team in the Armed Forces Championships in Georgia.  While we didn't win the tournament, we at least beat the Army.  'Rah.

Upon separating from active duty, I worked as a consultant on various business projects as a project manager and content writer.  I  got to work on marketing campaigns for international corporations, and led Microsoft's presence at SAP Sapphire in Orlando, Florida, working on such diverse projects as coordinating with international partners, designing the tradeshow booth, and organizing a golf tournament.  These roles enabled me to develop varied skills and interact with people from disparate backgrounds, and foster an appreciation for small business owners and their passion.

I recently joined the Marine Corps Reserves, and have been promoted to the rank of Major.  I continue to serve the military community as a volunteer attorney with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General's Military Engagement and Directed Advocacy by Lawyers (MEDAL) program, and as a member of the Washington State Bar Association Legal Assistance for Military Personnel section.  Serving my country and its veterans is an honor and privilege, and something I do not take lightly or for granted.

Before joining the military, I attended Spokane Falls Community College where I played soccer, before transferring and finishing at Eastern Washington University where I received my B.A. in History with dual minors in English and Government.  I love spending time with my wife and best friend, Cydney, our incredibly busy identical triplet daughters and our son, and our German Shorthair Pointers, Freyja and Gigi, as well as our fluffy cat, Rajah. In my (exceedingly rare) spare time, I can be found outside, either doing yardwork, pheasant hunting with Freyja and Gigi, or riding my Harley-Davidson, sometimes even with Cydney grudgingly joining me for the ride.  I'm also SCUBA certified, but I don't get many chances to dive now that I have returned to living in my home town of Spokane.
